Namaste! My name is Maya.
I am 6 years old and I live in a village called Pelkachour, in the hills of Western Nepal.
My World
Last year I was picked by the CAIRN Trust as one of 100 lucky children to get an Educational Award. This meant that I got a school uniform, bag, books, shoes, pencils and my school fees were paid. I was so proud to be able to go to school.
Every three months, a nice lady has been coming to check that I am going to school and doing my homework.
What’s New
Soon, we will all be going back to school after our holidays.
It was really exciting in the village this week as The CAIRN Trust arrived back with all the next years’ schools supplies. On donkeys!
My sister Mina has also now been picked to get an Award and is really happy. Click here to colour in pictures of me in my new uniform.’
We made lots of friends with the children from England who helped to give out our school supplies. My sister Mina has also now been picked to get an Award and is really happy. Click here if you would like to colour in pictures of me in my new uniform.
We made lots of friends with the children from England who helped to give out our school supplies. Thank you to all of you that wrote postcards and letters to us from England. It was so exciting to see the different places and things of interest in London. Click here to hear some of the trekkers’ stories about Nepal.
