Viva Las Vegas - Kensington party!

Kensington parents have shown that they are excellent party people so the same committee that organised the 30th Anniversary party in February 2008 decided to reform and organise another event. The focus this time was more on a sociable fun evening, but alongside was the hope that a bit of money could be raised for CAIRN and the Thomas's School Foundation.

The Team decided on a "Vegas" themed event and from that germ of an idea,  "Viva Las Vegas" was born. With amazing lighting and clever props, the 20th Century Theatre was transformed into a Vegas casino with 4 black jack and roulette tables, professional croupiers and even a Chapel of Love on the side. Guests could reaffirm their wedding vows (with Mr Ashton, Head of Maths doing a creditable Elvis impersonation), play the tables, watch the crooner on stage or gawp at the dancing girls. Cocktails and canapes were served throughout the evening to keep the party alive!

An auction, under the hammer of Charlie Thomas from Bonhams, raised over £11,000 through six lots, all kindly donated from parents and sponsors. A raffle with over 40 prizes and the Casino, where punters played for chips, brought the final fundraising total to over £17,000.  With gift aid, we hope to reach £20,000 and £10,000 of this will go directly to CAIRN.
