Roger Banks's Art Exhibition
Lobster Cottage, 15th - 16th November 2008, 11.30-6.00pm
Roger Banks, author and painter visited Nepal several times producing numerous drawings and paintings to record his experiences. He loved the simplicity of life in Nepal.
Following his recent death, Roger left his daughter Thomasina Findlay some amusing and thoughtful suggestions about what he would like to happen on the event of his death, with particular reference to his paintings which span some sixty years, from the first exhibition of Antarctic pictures held in the Imperial Institute, London in 1962 to his last show held at Hill of Tarvit last year.
The result is an Art Exhibition held on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th November 2008 at his home, Lobster Cottage, The Harbour, Crail. This is very much in keeping with what happened on previous occasions over the last twenty-five years whilst Roger and his wife lived in Lobster Cottage.
Join us for a drink, bowl of soup or whatever fits the time of day. There will be a selection of pictures; Antarctic watercolours, Himalayan landscapes and, arguably what he is best known for, his flower paintings.
Rogers's daughter, Thomasina has chosen to give 50% of all proceeds raised from the Art Exhibition to two charities which she knows he would have approved. They are Plantlife and The CAIRN Trust (Child Aid In Rural Nepal).
